Over the course of the weekend, trainee handlers from our NSARDA Water Search Dog team, met at a training venue, near Chepstow, courtesy of an arrangement via Severn Area Rescue Association. Trainee handlers met with Niels Treibor for the first time, with his dog U Lani. Niels has been transferred in his job to South London, meaning he is able to participate in our training as he is a member of Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft [roughly translated as Search and Rescue Dogs Germany]. More of Niels later in the year as we progress through our training programme. Handlers worked both land and water targets in hot dry conditions. A swim in shallow water upon completion of training was very welcomed by the dogs.
