Advanced Mountain Rescue Search Dog Raour Retires from being on call with SARDA Southern Scotland
Search dog Rauour retires
It’s with a mixture of sadness and pride that SARDA Southern Scotland announce the retirement of Advanced Mountain Rescue Search Dog Rauour.
We are of course sad that we will no longer witness Rauour searching the open hills and moorland at training or on a callouts; but proud of everything that he has achieved with his handler, John Romanes.
Rauour and John have served their local community, as members of Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team, and the wider Scottish community, for over 10 years.
Together they have responded to over 150 callouts, collecting along the way, a PDSA Commendation after their find of a critically injured missing person in blizzard conditions in 2015.
A truly amazing and gifted search dog, Rauour will be missed, however we all wish him a very happy and long retirement.
Oh yes…and he will be mentoring his younger ‘brother’ Ragnar, who has recently picked up the challenge of (trying to) take over the family ‘business’. 🐾🐾🐾❤️❤️❤️
We will try and keep you posted as to what we are up to. Being very busy volunteers, many with day jobs, we have little spare time so please bear with us.
NSARDA is a charity-based Association representing Member Associations
The purpose of NSARDA is to:
- Promote on a National level the charitable work of the Member Search and Rescue Dog Associations of the United Kingdom, Isle of Man, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland;
- Promote the development of Search Dogs, Dog Handlers and Dog Supports / Navigators to locate high risk missing persons;
- Support handlers to achieve a greater understanding of training of Search Dogs.
